How it all started      

     A few years back, on a bit of a whim, we stopped by a do- it- yourself candle-making shop.  Looking for some creative gift ideas, we came across melt and pour soaps and lotion bases.  “Wow, we could make homemade soaps & lotions that are good for you,” we thought.  After closer inspection of the ingredient lists, we found they were full of things we had never even heard of, like methylparaben and sodium lauryl sulfate.  Thus began a quest for knowledge, and ultimately, for healthy things for ourselves, our family, & friends. 

      That quest for pure products has overflowed from skin care to nutrition, gardening, & small animal farming.  It’s at the heart of what Sycamore Tree General Store is all about - providing a local and affordable source of good things for you, your garden, and your animals.

Family Adventure

     Owned and operated by the Pattens, Sycamore Tree General Store is a family affair. Tim, Jamie and their five children run the internet based business from their homestead in south central Ohio. Their farm is also a testing ground of sorts for the various products and ideas for the store.

     Along with the baking, soap making, & seasonal garden, they are trying their hand at dairy sheep and pastured laying hens.   They view life as an adventure and most days you'll find Dad, Mom and any number of the kids pitching in on whatever the daily project is.
